Shawna Henderson “Abri” is a french word meaning: “shelter, a safe place.”

Based in Nova Scotia, Canada, Abri is owned and operated by Shawna Henderson. Ms. Henderson has over fifteen years experience in building science, residential energy efficiency, sustainable building techniques and renewable energy applications.

As a long-time R-2000 evaluator and inspector, EnerGuide for Houses evaluator, and field researcher for Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation and Natural Resources Canada, Ms. Henderson brings hands-on knowledge of energy efficiency and homeowners' issues to bear on every project.

Abri offers design and consultation services for green building and sustainable energy management plans, working with a network of Canadian experts in energy engineering, renewable energy system design and energy efficient building science.

Alexander Day Alexander Day, works on a variety of Abri research and development projects including the application of seed funding for housing mentioned below. Mr. Day is a graduate of the Environmental Leadership masters program at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.

March 2005: Abri is one of 22 organizations in Atlantic Canada awarded early stage funding to develop affordable housing proposals by the Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation (CMHC). Abri's initiative will focus on sustainable community development in St. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia.
